Menstrual disorder

Menstural disorder is an abnormal condition with regards to a persons menstrual cycle.

  • Normal length of the menstrual cycle varies between 28 to 35 days and bleeding lasts for 3 to 7 days.

  • Flow for more than 8 days, changing 6 to 8 pads per day  associated with clots is considered abnormal

  •  It can vary with age from adolescent to perimenopausal age group. Can be associated with various signs and symptoms like pain and excessive bleeding. Early detection and management is required in order to minimize the possibility of complications regarding future reproductive ability and other as these problems were once considered to be just nuisance and ladies avoided doctors opinion.but now it is known to be recognized as having a serious impact on society in the form of days lost from work brought about by the pain and suffering experienced by women. EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION

 

  • Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECP) or copper IUD used after unprotected sexual intercourse

  • Reduces chance of pregnancy

  • ECP should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse
